How the score is calculated

Computed in code from your text. No language model is asked for a number, which is why the same resume scores the same every time.

We look only at lines that make a claim about your work. Headings, dates, contact details and skills lists are left out, because judging them would move the number without telling you anything.

Privacy

What we do with your resume

The short version: we read it, score it, and let it go. You need no account, and the only thing this page writes to our database is an email address, if you ask us to send you the breakdown.

Read in memory

A file you upload is read to pull the text out. It is not saved to disk and not written to our database.

Cached for 24 hours

A copy is held in a temporary cache, keyed to a one-way hash of the text, so re-checking the same resume does not have to be paid for twice. Entries expire on their own.

Your result, under a token

Held under a random token so the page can show it and a share link can work. It holds your score and the lines quoted back to you, not your full resume, and it expires within 30 days.

No account, no email

You can use the checker without either. An address is asked for only if you want the breakdown sent to you, and it is used for that and nothing else.

Your IP address is used to apply rate limits and run the bot check, and is held as a short-lived counter rather than a record of your visit. The full detail is in our privacy policy.

Questions

Is the resume checker free?

Yes. You can check a resume without an account, without a card, and without giving an email address. You only need an email if you want the breakdown sent to you.

What is the Clarity & Evidence Score?

It is a 0-100 score for how your resume is written, computed from four things we can count: how many of your lines carry a concrete result, how many open with something you did, how many avoid filler language, and how many are short enough to read at a glance. It is calculated in code from your text, so the same resume always gets the same score.

Is this an ATS score?

No, and we deliberately do not publish one. No applicant tracking system publishes a scoring formula, so any number claiming to be an ATS score is a guess presented as a measurement. We score what can actually be measured: the writing.

Do you store my resume?

The file you upload is read in memory to get the text out and is not saved. The text is not written to our database. The result is held briefly so the page can show it and so a share link works, and it expires on its own. If you give us an email address, we store that address.

Why does it quote my own lines back at me?

Because a generic tip like 'use more action verbs' does not tell you which line to change. Every weakness we show is a span copied from your document. If the checker cannot match a quote to your text exactly, it drops that finding rather than showing it.

How is this different from tailoring a resume to a job?

The checker looks at your resume on its own, with no job description. Tailoring compares it against a specific posting and rewrites it against that posting, which needs an account.
